In addition to horses, Cedar Valley Stables has overnight accommodations available for groups up to 30 people.

The damage to to The Ranch is extensive.  We're assessing our losses now but the damage extended throughout all of our buildings (including our homes).  The animals were safely evacuated and are being cared for in a temporary shelter. 

 Without your help, our future is uncertain. 

At this time (July 2008) we are continuing to clean, repair and assess The Lodge and Bunkhouse.  Only after that is complete will we know if they will be available for rent.  If you have any questions or additional help/supplies to offer, please contact Nancy at 1 (319) 360-1524.

Scout Camps frequently visit The Ranch

Established in 1958, Cedar Valley Stables has hosted a number of scout and educational activities.  At one time, The Ranch was home to the Girl Scouts' summer camps.

Steps to secure overnight accommodations at Cedar Valley Stables 

Our Ranch is a lovely place to enjoy a relaxing evening.  To ensure there is a spot for you, follow these tips:

  1. Pick a date and a few back-up dates for your visit
  2. Determine how many people will be joining you
  3. Call Jo at The Ranch to book your date - (563) 886-3752
  4. Plan for your meals, beverages and transportation
  5. Pack clothes appropriate for the seasons' weather
  6. Bring your bedding - the beds are comfortable but the bedding is your own
  7. Find someone to watch your dogs, they can't stay the night with you
  8. Get ready to have a wonderful time

Additional charge of $5.00 per girl to earn her Girl Scout Horse Badge

 

Guide Fee $15.00 per group.  Guides are provided for your safety and ours. 

Guide tips are not required but are appreciated.

 

Price Includes:

  • One morning horse back ride (maximum of 1 hour)
  • Overnight stay in our lodge or bunkhouse overlooking the Cedar River
  • Bathhouse facilities with showers
  • Grooming and saddling demonstration (with hands on grooming for the girls)

Prices will NOT be broken down between riding and overnights!  If a group member chooses not to ride they will still pay the full amount but someone else may use their ride at the time of your groups’ stay.

 

Any additional rides will be discounted to $TBD each.

  • Bedding
  • Food
  • Cooking Utensils
  • Charcoals for grill
  • Lawn chairs / Flashlights
  • Wood for fireplace /NO NAILS/ (Ranch will provide for $10.00 per large box)
  • Wood for bonfire /NO NAILS/   (Ranch will provide for $10.00 per large box)
  • Riding or bike helmet

 

Reservations Required:

 

$75.00 Deposit for each building, each night reserved.  Deposit is non-refundable.
